RUTLAND AND DISTRICT

In order to reach Black Mountain Golf Community, one must travel south along Highway 33 through the Kelowna neighbourhood of Rutland.   Highway 33 is an offshoot of Highway 97.  Rutland is 5 minutes to Black Mountain Golf Community,  30 minutes to Big White, 10 minutes to Kelowna International Airport, and 15 minutes to Downtown Kelowna.

The area is made up of urban, suburban and rural pockets that encompass several large hobby orchards, commercial gardens and general market farms of all sorts. 



The town centre of Rutland has all the amenities of a small city.  Shopping centres, doctors, dentists, restaurants and various banks.  There are also grocery stores, pharmacies, and specialty stores.  Rutland is also very close to Walmart and surrounding stores.  Costco and Orchard Park Shopping Centre are also only minutes away.    Rutland  has movie theatres, the YMCA-YWCA including a swimming pool, Rutland Sports fields, numerous parks including Ben Lee Park, and two skating rink.   There are paths for hiking, biking, and walking. 

There are six primary/elementary schools in the Rutland area, two middle schools and one high school.
